Major Gifts Officer (full-time remote)

Develop and manage major donor outreach, qualification, cultivation, and stewardship activity in a disciplined remote fundraising environment.

Major Gift Decisions, Inc. is hiring a Major Gifts Officer (full-time remote) to support outbound donor development, relationship management, prospect follow-up, and ongoing major gift campaign activity for client organizations and strategic fundraising engagements. This role is ideal for a disciplined communicator who understands that successful fundraising is not based on volume alone, but on thoughtful qualification, meaningful engagement, professional follow-up, and consistent documentation. The successful candidate will combine relationship-building skill with process discipline and a strong work ethic.

In this role, you will support major gifts strategy by executing daily outreach activities and managing assigned relationships through the pipeline. Depending on the client and assignment, that may include introductory phone calls, email outreach, meeting coordination, donor research follow-up, calendar management, preparation for Zoom or in-person meetings, CRM notes, stewardship communication, proposal support, and collaboration with supervisors or executive stakeholders. You will work from a remote environment but remain deeply engaged with prospects, team workflows, and fundraising priorities. The role requires maturity, poise, and the ability to communicate with high-net-worth individuals, board members, or senior institutional stakeholders in a professional and credible way.

The best candidates for this position are proactive and comfortable initiating contact. You should not need constant supervision to complete follow-up, keep records current, or advance prospects to the next stage. At the same time, you should know when to escalate, ask for context, or seek guidance. Major gift fundraising often depends on timing, tone, and judgment. We are looking for someone who understands that donor engagement is an earned process and who can maintain professionalism even when outcomes take time to develop.

This position is suited to people who enjoy structured outreach and who appreciate the discipline of tracking activity. You may be expected to help maintain a robust cadence of calls, emails, scheduling, follow-up tasks, and database notes. Metrics matter, but quality matters more. We value candidates who can communicate clearly, follow a process, and represent both the firm and client organizations in a polished, thoughtful manner. If you have experience with donor portfolios, annual fund leadership, corporate outreach, high-level sales development, alumni relations, membership development, or consultative client relationship work, that background may transfer well here.

The Major Gifts Officer will likely work inside CRM systems and shared productivity tools. Experience with Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, spreadsheets, and email tracking workflows is useful. More important is a willingness to keep clean records, document next steps, and remain accountable for your assigned work. You should be comfortable synthesizing prospect context before making outreach, personalizing messages appropriately, and reporting activity in a concise and reliable format. Strong calendar discipline is expected, as is the ability to prepare for and recap meetings in a useful way.

This is a remote full-time role, but it requires a professional pace. We expect reliable availability, thoughtful communication, and steady movement on priorities. You may be assigned to one primary client or support multiple fundraising lanes depending on business needs. In either case, you should be ready to represent an organized, service-minded, donor-facing standard. Candidates who can handle both outreach volume and nuanced communication will do well here. Candidates who enjoy invisible detail work—the kind that keeps fundraising operations moving—are especially valuable.

Over time, a strong performer in this role may take on larger donor portfolios, more independent cultivation activity, more direct client interaction, and increased responsibility for pipeline strategy. The role can also serve as a strong foundation for advancement into campaign support, senior relationship management, or broader major gifts leadership. We are looking for someone who can contribute immediately but who also wants to grow in a rigorous and high-trust fundraising environment.

Success in the role will be measured by activity quality, professionalism, consistency, responsiveness, documented progress in the pipeline, and the ability to help generate meaningful donor conversations. We value mature contributors who take ownership of their work and who understand that credibility is built one interaction at a time. If you are interested in major gift fundraising and want to be part of a disciplined remote team focused on real relationship development, we encourage you to inquire.
