Major Gifts Officer (part-time remote)

Support donor outreach, qualification, follow-up, and CRM pipeline activity in a flexible part-time remote role.

Major Gift Decisions, Inc. is seeking a Major Gifts Officer (part-time remote) for a flexible fundraising support role centered on donor outreach, prospect qualification, stewardship follow-up, and CRM pipeline management. This role is intended for someone who wants meaningful donor-facing work in a structured environment without a full-time schedule. The position is part-time, but the work must still be professional, disciplined, and dependable. We are looking for someone who values communication quality, process integrity, and the long game of relationship-based fundraising.

Part-time does not mean casual. We need a candidate who can maintain continuity, meet deadlines, keep records current, and handle follow-up responsibly across a smaller weekly schedule. This role may be a strong fit for an experienced fundraising professional, advancement coordinator, parent returning to the workforce, consultant, or mission-aligned communicator who can devote focused time to donor development work. Depending on the engagement, you may support one primary client or work across several targeted outreach efforts under active supervision and established systems.

The work itself may include donor research support, introductory email and phone outreach, qualification calls, scheduling assistance, meeting preparation, CRM updates, correspondence drafting, proposal support, and stewardship follow-up. You should be comfortable handling tasks independently once expectations are clear. We especially value candidates who understand how to sound polished and respectful in donor communications. Fundraising success often depends on the quality of relatively ordinary moments: the tone of a follow-up email, the timing of a voicemail, the usefulness of a meeting recap, or the completeness of a CRM note. This role is for someone who takes those details seriously.

Because schedules are shorter in a part-time arrangement, prioritization matters. We want someone who can use time intelligently, keep the highest-value tasks in motion, and avoid losing momentum. Strong task management and communication habits are essential. The ideal candidate can take direction, translate it into action, and then report back clearly on outcomes, roadblocks, and next steps. You do not need to be flashy. You need to be steady, thoughtful, and organized.

The strongest applicants will bring some combination of fundraising experience, donor relations exposure, alumni or membership development, executive scheduling, client account support, or sales development work that required tact and persistence. Experience with CRMs such as Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge is helpful, but not mandatory if you are comfortable learning structured systems. You should be at ease working in spreadsheets, email platforms, calendars, and note-taking environments that require precision and consistency.

This is a remote role. We expect professionalism in communication, responsiveness during agreed hours, and respect for deadlines. You should be able to work effectively from home, stay organized without heavy oversight, and maintain a calm, service-oriented tone even when managing multiple priorities. This role may include recurring outreach expectations, meeting coordination, record cleanup, donor briefing preparation, and campaign support tasks. We are particularly interested in people who can contribute with maturity from day one.

There is room for growth. A high-performing part-time Major Gifts Officer may expand hours, assume greater portfolio responsibility, take on more independent donor conversations, or transition into a fuller development role over time. But even as a part-time contributor, you will play an important role in shaping donor experience and supporting fundraising outcomes. We want someone who respects the mission-driven nature of the work while also appreciating the operational rigor required to do it well.

If you are looking for flexible but meaningful work in fundraising, and you enjoy a combination of communication, structure, and relationship support, this may be an excellent fit. We encourage applications from people who are thoughtful, organized, and committed to doing donor-facing work with care.
